Where We Work in the County
Hillsborough Bay, Old Tampa Bay & the Alafia.
Hillsborough County's waterfront spans three distinct bodies of water — Hillsborough Bay along South Tampa, Old Tampa Bay to the west, and the Alafia River feeding into the bay near Apollo Beach and Riverview. Each has different tidal patterns, boat traffic, and wave exposure, which changes how a seawall or dock should be built.
We've worked extensively in South Tampa's bayfront neighborhoods (Beach Park, Sunset Park, Culbreath Isles), the man-made canals of Davis Islands and Harbour Island, and the canal communities of Apollo Beach.
Permitting
City of Tampa + county + state sign-off.
Waterfront work inside Tampa city limits requires City of Tampa permitting in addition to Hillsborough County and Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) requirements — and any work below the mean high water line typically needs Army Corps of Engineers coordination.
We manage every layer of that permitting process as part of your project, so you're not the one chasing down approvals.
Communities We Serve
Hillsborough County, neighborhood by neighborhood.
South Tampa
Beach Park, Sunset Park, and Culbreath Isles have some of the county's oldest bayfront seawalls — many built to older standards and due for evaluation.
Davis Islands & Harbour Island
Man-made islands with canal frontage on nearly every lot — dense boat traffic and tight site access are the norm here.
Apollo Beach
A canal community fed by the Alafia River, with heavy recreational boat traffic that accelerates seawall and dock wear.
Riverview & Ruskin
River and bay-adjacent properties along the Alafia and eastern Hillsborough Bay, with more variable water depth than the open bay.
Also serving: Tampa · Westshore · Interbay · Palmetto Beach · Ballast Point · and surrounding Hillsborough County waterfront communities.
Hillsborough County FAQ
Local questions, answered.
Do I need a permit for seawall or dock work in Hillsborough County?
Yes. Work inside Tampa city limits requires City of Tampa permitting; unincorporated areas go through the county. Both require FDEP review, and work below the mean high water line typically needs Army Corps of Engineers coordination. We handle all of it.
Is South Tampa different from Apollo Beach for seawall work?
Yes — South Tampa's bayfront lots face Hillsborough Bay directly, while Apollo Beach's canals see more concentrated boat wake. We evaluate wave exposure at your specific site rather than applying one spec countywide.
